PEKAN: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the Barisan Nasional (BN) government has never reneged on its promise to bring development to the rural areas and always allocates a considerable sum for this purpose in the budget.

The Prime Minister said the government had never forgotten and had always stressed the agenda for rural development as well as development between the regions and the states.

“According to the National
Key Result Area, we give emphasis on (development in) the rural areas.

“In our budget previously, we gave a considerable allocation to the rural areas, rural infrastructure through programmes developed by Felcra, Felda and Risda,” he said.

The BN government had never broken its promises made previously in line with the slogan ‘Janji Ditepati’ (Promises Fulfilled), he said at the Felcra Berhad Aidilfitri open house at the national level at Dataran Pekan, here yesterday.

Also present was his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Meanwhile, the prime minister explained that the slogan ‘Janji Ditepati’ was in line with Islamic teachings which should be upheld by everyone.

For Muslims, not upholding the slogan would make them a hypocrite, he said. — Bernama
