KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans were advised not to be cheated by the psychological war waged by the opposition party which has claimed that more Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno members would be leaving the party to join them.

Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan said that the psychological war by the opposition has been waged because they sensed the rise of the BN and are deliberately raising such issues to win over Sabahans.

“In my opinion, what is occurring in Sabah is not worrying and for the information of leaders in Sarawak and Peninsular (Malaysia), be assured that what is occuring here is simply a wave that is dying.

“They are only interested in raising psychological war…they say that more BN leaders will join the action of Datuk Seri Panglima Lajim Ukin and Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing,” he said to reporters when met at the Kota Kinabalu Umno Information Chief Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House celebration recently.

He asserted that such incidences will not materialise as the political situation in Sabah was calming down and that he was certain the leadership of the Cheif Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman, will be able to address the issues that are occuring in Sabah.

Ahmad reminded all leaders in Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia who were unable to come to Sabah that Umno and BN SAbah will continue to be strong based on his experiences.

Ahmad, who is also the Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Department said that Sabah was still BN’s strong fortress.

“Stories that BN will lose in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak and that the people of Sabah will have to follow what is occurring there…these are just dreams that will not be fulfilled.

“The aspiration of the opposition is to rule Malaysia. Do they think we will keep quiet? We will not keep quiet. Umno and BN as well as the 13 BN component parties will not keep quiet.

“We will defend Putrajaya, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur and all of the seats to the end. Those that we have lost previously, we will endeavour to win them back. Trust me, don’t get caught in the opposition’s psychological war.

He said all the four states that are under the opposition are in messy situations.

He also said that the next general election would be announced by the prime minister soon.

“It can happen anytime. What is important is we must be ready. We keep asking, when is the election due. If our preparation is 80 percent to 90 percent, and the disolution is announced, we will only have to work hard to attain the 10 percent to 20 percent to strengthen ourselves.”
