KENINGAU: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan hoped Sabah would be given a bigger allocation rural infrastructure development when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announces the 2013 Budget on Sept 28.

Pairin said many rural areas needed financial assistance to enhance infrastructure facilities and roads to ease the transportation woes of the rural people and farmers.

“Those involved in agriculture and farming activities must be given attention so that they will be able to increase their income by the year 2020,”Pairin who is also the state Infrastructure Development Minister told reporters at the Keningau Parliamentary constituency’s Hari Raya open house here on Monday.

He said the Federal government had always given priority to rural development in line with the 1Malaysia concept of people first.

“The people must also value the contributions from the government and be ready to assist in the development process,” he said. — Bernama
