KUCHING: A momentary lapse cost a local businessman to lose some RM16,000 worth personal belongings after he left his bag atop a cash deposit machine in a bank on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 10.30pm when the 49-year-old from Kampung Tabuan left the bank in Pending without his sling bag that he had placed on top the machine while busy depositing some cash.

Upon realising what had happened, the businessman told police that he immediately returned to the bank but found his bag missing.

Among the items inside were two tablet computers, two iPhone 4S, a Nokia phone, a Rolex watch, as well as the keys to his house and office.

A police report of the incident has been lodged.

In an unrelated case, a factory worker sustained a slash wound to his head after a person he knew attacked him over an unresolved matter.

The incident took place at Kampung Siol Kandis in Petra Jaya around 2.15am when the 32-year-old victim was about to leave with his nephew on a motorcycle to buy some beer at a nearby shop.

According to him, a man known to him suddenly appeared by the roadside and caused his nephew to lose control and crash the machine.

The man, who the victim said held a grudge against him, then ran up and slashed his head with a sharp object before fleeing on foot.

An ambulance was later called to the scene to send the injured man to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
