Boyfriend held over death of woman

PENAMPANG: Police have detained a local man in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in a room at her second-floor apartment home in Bundusan on Wednesday.

District police chief DSP Ratan Kumar Singh said the man, in his 30s, is believed to be the victim’s boyfriend.

“The man was detained in Penampang area around 11am today to assist police in this investigation, which is framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said, yesterday.

Singh said the police were still investigating the case as well as the motive of the murder and believed jealousy might be involved in the case.

Rozaidah Lajalo, 28, from Tawau, was found dead inside a room at her apartment in Bundusan around 6pm on September 19.

Both her hands and legs were bound from behind and it was believed a rope was found around her neck.

She was found clad in an underwear and a singlet, lying face down by a team of police.
