Lazarus said this after announcing the availability of Microsoft’s latest Windows Server 2012 in conjunction with Microsoft’s 20th anniversary here yesterday.

He said Microsoft’s impact in the country went beyond business and economy.

“Technolody and education have the power to economically expand the impact and accelerate the potential growth of every student, educator and school,” he said.

Microsoft has invested over RM15.5 million in the Partners-in-Learning programme in Malaysia, reaching over 210,000 teachers and 3.5 million students, he said.

The ten-year US$500 million programme is a global initiative aimed at supporting schools and educators’ use of technology to help every student receive education and gain the skills they need in work and life.

Another initiative, ‘Shape the Future’, has allowed Microsoft Malaysia to be connected to over one million students with relevant and affordable technologies.

“Microsoft Malaysia’s commitment to transform education is predicated on the country’s aspirations which requires an innovative and well-prepared workforce,” he said. — Bernama
