A total of 1.3 million civil servants will receive a one-month bonus in addition to the half-month bonus given to them during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year and pensioners will get RM500.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, when tabling the 2013 budget in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, said half of the one-month bonus would be paid in December 2012 and the other half, in January 2013.
“As a token of the government’s appreciation, I am pleased to announce a bonus of one-and-a-half months salary. Of this total, half a month’s bonus was paid during the past Aidilfitri,” said Najib, who is also Finance Minister, when presenting the budget proposals on the theme ‘Prospering the Nation, Enhancing Well-being of the Rakyat: A Promise Fulfilled’.
The government had, in August, given a bonus of a half-month salary or minimum of RM500 to civil servants, as well as RM500 to pensioners, for the Aidilfitri.
Najib said it was hoped that the bonus would reduce the burden on civil servants, especially families, at the beginning of the next school year. — Bernama
