Minimum pension for civil servants raised from RM720 to rm820

The minimum pension for government servants with at least 25 years service will be raised from RM720 to RM820, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Najib, who is also the finance minister, said the pension adjustment would be effective from Jan 1, 2012.

The government has not forgotten the contribution of pensioners in providing excellent services for the country.

This measure will involve an additional allocation of RM60 million a year benefiting 50,371 pensioners including derivative pension recipients,” he said when tabling the 2013 budget at the Dewan Rakyat, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, the government proposes to reduce the processing fee of passports effective January 2013 in apprecition of the senior citizens.

Najib said the processing fee of a five-year passport for senior citizens would be reduced by 50 per cent from RM300 to RM150.

Meanwhile, the processing fee for a two-year passport will be reduced from RM100 to RM80,” he said.

This reduction would also be extended to children aged 12 and below, he said. — Bernama
