KUCHING: Two of the newest commercial development projects The Hub@Matang and Swan Mall will be launched next Tuesday (Oct 2).

A press release here said Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman will officiate at its launching ceremony.

The Hub@Matang which covers an area of 25 acres is at the roundabout next to E-mart Mall in Matang Jaya.

The site is of high visibility and no one can miss it upon reaching Matang Jaya.

It is said to be located on the most prime land in Matang and the project consists of 111 units of three-storey shophouses, four units of double-storey showrooms and a modern shopping mall with a footprint of five acres.

To date, earthwork has reached 50 per cent with 85 per cent of the shophouses sold.

The project is designed by PKL Wong Architect, and every unit is fronting the roads.

There are 1,300 surface parking which will provide shoppers with great convenience and ease when doing their shopping.

Maybank has purchased two units from the developer Sarafield Sdn Bhd and tentatively targets to open in the last quarter of 2014.

Swan Mall, meanwhile, is an 11-storey mall covering an area of 210,000 sq ft.

There are a hypermarket, a departmental store, a food court and 177 retail outlets in the mall. Swan Mall is also reputed to have the largest central court/event space covering an area of over 10,000 sq ft.

It is named after landowner Dr Robert Wong who has resided in Melbourne for more than 30 years.

Dr Wong’s family has kept the land for more than 50 years, and it is very rewarding for him to see the land developed in this manner.

According to the press release, the developer is giving out an early bird discount of four per cent to customers who want to operate their businesses there.

Members of the public are invited to come for the launch.

Entertainment, food and refreshments will be available for customers as well as souvenir gifts on a first-come-first-served basis.
