Temburong Paddlers Club Organising Bicycle Expedition From Bintulu To Brunei


TEMBURONG: The Temburong Paddlers Club will organise a bicycle expedition from Bintulu, Sarawak to Brunei Darussalam on October 6, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The expedition will be participated by about 30 to 40 participants, and will cover a distance of about 225 km.

The team manager of Temburong Paddlers, Awg Hj Lamat bin Hj Lakim said the expedition is part of the club’s annual activity as a way to promote team work among teams members and to promote a healthy life style through recreation.

It is also an opportunity to visit other places to witness their development and progress, especially in terms of cultural and economic activity.

So far, he said the response from communities in other country was very encouraging.

He said that the Temburong Paddlers is a group of Temburong residents comprising of youths and veterans who are interested in cycling.

They have about 40 members and the club has been active in cycling expeditions since 2003.

He said the Temburong Paddlers have also organised various activities, including a cycling expedition in the Temburong District as well as cycling to Lawas, Sarawak and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The Manager of Temburong Paddlers said, “We have participated in almost every bicycle activities organised by various ministries and private sectors, including banks in the country.

As part of the Bintulu-Brunei expedition preparation, the team had to undergo a special group training to Limbang and Lawas.

Meanwhile, Awg Mohd Dali bin Hj Lamat, the head marshal, said that his role in the expedition is to ensure the smooth running and safety of the participants.

He said the participants will start from Bintulu in the morning and, pass by Tanjung Kidurong area, to Wisma Bintulu and continue to Samalajau.

The team will rest at Niah area, and after that will continue the journey to. Miri and will arrive in Kuala Belait the next day.
