No place for traitors in BN – LDP

KUDAT: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has urged Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership not to tolerate leaders who go against the coalition in the coming general election.

Its deputy president, Senator Datuk Chin Su Phin, said there was no place in BN for traitors and must be expelled and not allowed to rejoin any of the component parties.

He said this in welcoming a recent warning by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that the BN leadership would not tolerate any traitors or saboteurs within the BN component parties in the coming general election.

Chin recounted that LDP had in fact faced such a problem in a few constituencies during the last general election in 2008.

“Certain leaders from within the BN coalition stabbed us from the back. We had submitted a full report to the BN leadership but no action has been taken against the traitors, so the recent assurance from the PM and DPM that action would be taken against traitors or saboteurs is laudable.

“As far as LDP is concerned, there is no place in BN for traitors and must be sacked and not allowed to rejoin any of the component parties.

“We are also happy to see that Umno leaders are now working closely with fellow BN component parties. This shows that they adhere to the directive from the BN leadership,” he said when opening the annual general meeting (AGM) of Tanjong Kapor division here yesterday.

Chin reiterated that it could not be denied there were still some issues that had not been resolved and assured the people that LDP would continue to speak up in the hope that the issues would get due attention and remedy from the government.

“But it is sad to note that whenever LDP speaks up on any issues or problem with the genuine intention of seeking resolution, none from the other component parties has the gut to come out and support us.

“Needless to say, all BN component parties must stand together so whatever issue or shortcoming can be resolved for the benefit of the people,” he said.

Chin cautioned that leaders who had committed mistakes or wrongdoings are not worthy of support from the BN component parties.

“We cannot continue to give our support to those leaders who have committed mistakes, otherwise the people will use their voting right to teach us (the BN) a lesson during the election,” said Chin.

“I strongly believe that if all BN component parties work hand-in-hand during the 13th general election, BN will be victorious and form the next government,” he said.
