KUCHING: Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), in cooperation with the state National Culture and Arts Department (JKKN), will be holding My Gempak carnival from Oct 15 to 21 at RTM compound at Jalan P Ramlee here.

RTM deputy director Fee Lin Chew said among the highlights of the one-week carnival would be the auditions from Oct 15 to 19 for RTM’s reality TV programmes My Ekspresi, Lantai Cilik and Mimpi Ke Bintang.

Two finalists each from My Ekspresi and Lantai Cilik would be representing the state at the national level competition to compete with finalists from Terengganu, Kedah, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Sabah.

“Whereas for Mimpi Ke Bintang, about 20 finalists will be showing their talents live to be broadcast by TV1 on Saturday, Oct 20, from 9pm to 10.30pm,” Fee said at a press conference in RTM office here yesterday.

Elaborating further about the three reality programmes, she said for My Ekspresi, the judges would be looking for choreographers who had the capability to perform traditional or contemporary dance in both solo and group.

For Lantai Cilik, Fee said the participation was open to children under 12 years old and the winners would be judged based on their ability to perform the traditional dances.

“As for Mimpi Ke Bintang, the scope of competition is wider as it requires the participants not only be able to dance and sing but give the younger generation, including the disabled, to show their special talents such as in playing musical instruments, magic show, acrobatics as well as their special abilities,” she explained.

State JKKN acting director Saini Lihi, who was also present during the press conference, said in order to make the carnival more lively, the organiser had invited a few popular local artistes to perform starting 5pm.

The local artistes include Noraniza Idris, Dayang Nurfaizah, Jimmy Palikat, Bob AF, Iwan Dasri, Azreen Azhar, Kina Mentor, Anding, Dely Ahli Fikir.

Saini said fans would have the chance to meet well-known drama actor Fizo Omor and Adi Putra at the booths set up by national Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) and Filem Negara.
