SAN JUAN: Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) made its first appearance at Imex America in early October at the 51st ICCA Congress 2012, with SCB Global Marketing and Communications director Amelia Roziman as the first native Sarawakian to speak at the Congress.

“I am thrilled and honoured to be a speaker for the ICCA Congress and to share the Sarawakian creative way of thinking. Much of my focus will be on creativity in presenting bids, provide tips on daring to be different and stand out from the crowd. I hope to encourage everyone to make creative thinking a part of their everyday lives,” said Amelia.

Amelia will be presenting during the ‘Advanced Bidding Session’ the ‘Fundamentals of bidding for international association meetings’ alongside Andreas Abold (abold GmbH), Alice Au (Tourism Toronto/ Toronto Convention Bureau), Eric Chou (Metro Toronto Convention Centre) and Christian Mutschlechner, director at the Vienna Convention Bureau, Austria who is the session leader.

Adding to Amelia’s credibility, she is also one of the pioneer speakers in the SCB’s Tribal Wisdom Speaker (TWS) programme.

SCB managing director Mike Cannon commented: “TWS is a unique showcase of Sarawak’s cultural diversity. I am happy that this programme has been widely accepted during our stint at Imex America. We hope this will open up more opportunities for Sarawak to expand its reach globally through the sharing of ancestral teachings.”

The Tribal Wisdom Speaker (TWS) programme brings together the best speakers from Sarawak’s successful businesses, artists and professionals who are also from Sarawak’s ethnic tribes to share their life experiences and how their tribal ancestry have influenced their success.
