KUCHING: The state Welfare Department (JKMB) is looking for the biological mothers of two children, one under the care of a children’s home while the other under the care of a guardian.

David, believed to be approximately five years old, was referred to JKMB on Sept 4.

He was seen wandering by the roadside of Kampung Siol Kandis here and believed to have been abandoned by his family.

A man claiming to be his father presented himself at the JKMB office on Sept 5, but failed to provide any proof to his claim.

The Children’s Court ruled under Section 17(1)(d) of the Children’s Act 2001 that David be placed under the care of the children’s home until JKMB prepares a protection report on the child.

Based on earlier information, David’s mother was named as Siti Aisah Jaya, 33, with her last known address at Kampung Tanjong Bako here.

Meanwhile, JKMB is also trying to trace the mother of a boy named Henry, 11. Based on available information, his mother Cendy Daud went missing in 2008. Her last known address is Kampung Nyalitak, Simunjan.

According to Henry’s guardian, Buli Daud, all attempts to trace the boy’s mother had been in vain.

The Children’s Court ruled on Sept 13 that Henry remained under the care of Buli until Oct 25 this year to allow JKMB Kuching to prepare a protection report.

Family members, relatives and members of the public who know David or Henry’s mothers are asked to contact welfare officer Hasrat Ahmad at 082-444251 or 014-8933398.
