The victim’s motorbike and the Toyota Hilux pick-up at the scene of the fatal crash yesterday.
KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist who was on his way home was killed when his machine collided with a Toyota Hilux pick-up at Jalan Sepanggar, near Taman Sri Maju yesterday.
The victim, identified as Zulkifli Maarof, 47, from Taman Malawa Jaya, Jalan Sepanggar, died at the scene around 12.15pm.
It is believed that Zulkifli was riding in the right lane from Indah Permai while the Toyota Hilux was in the left hand lane and was making a U-turn when the fatal accident occurred.
Deputy city police chief Superintendent M. Chandra, when contacted yesterday, said the 59-year-old driver of the Toyota Hilux has been detained to assist police in their investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He said the victim’s body was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem and family members had been notified.
