KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will open the World Innovation Forum Kuala Lumpur (WIF-KL) today (Nov 5), the climax of the Year of Science and National Innovation Movement 2012.

The forum, jointly hosted by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and the Malaysian Foundation for Innovation, is the continuity of two government initiatives – the Year of Creativity and Innovation Malaysia (Malaysia Innovative 2010) and the Year of Science and Mathematics Excellence 2011.

‘Science and Innovation the Drivers of Transformation’ has been picked as this year’s theme on the conviction that the two fields would lead to knowledge enrichment, wealth creation and people’s well-being, the ministry said in a statement.

The forum would serve as the catalyst for the innovation movement in the global context towards enhancing socio-economic development which was undergoing phenomenal transformation currently, the ministry said.

The forum would be the platform for sharing of experience and issues in drawing up strategies for inclusive innovation which would open up vast business and investment opportunities domestically and globally, the ministry added. — Bernama
