SARIKEI: The BDC Neighbourhood Area (KRT) is among the top seven nominees for the National Unity and Integration Department’s national-level excellence awards.

Also nominated by the National Unity and Integration Department here is the Sarikei Unity Nursery, which has also made it into the top seven for its category.

“That means they are still in contention for the top award,” said National Unity and Integration Department Sarikei officer Johny Banyang during a thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday.

“A panel of judges for KRT and nursery categories will be here on Nov 26 and 27 respectively to make the final assessment,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sarikei deputy Resident (Social) Alex Liau, who officiated at the event, said recognition of contributions is vital.

“To me recognition of our contribution is the most valuable incentive, which we can treasure and cherish for life,” he said.

The dinner was for members of Unity Kindergarten Coordination Committees and staff.

A total of 233 children enrolled in 10 Unity Kindergartens here this year.

They include 129 pupils who will proceed to Primary 1 next year.
