54,697 candidates to sit for STPM starting Monday

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 54,697 candidates will sit for the 2012 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination at 760 examination centres nationwide from Nov 19 until Dec 13.

The Malaysian Examination Council (MEC), in a statement issued here yesterday, said the candidates comprised 49,163 people from government schools, private schools (1,186 people), private candidates (4,224 people) and from state government schools (124 candidates).

“They are the last cohort of candidates to sit for the existing STPM examination.

“The first cohort of candidates for 2013 STPM based on the new assessment system sat for the first term examination last Nov 5 to 8,” it said.

Candidates sitting for the examination next week are advised to bring along their identity cards and the candidate admission registration reports to the examination centres.

Candidates can also print the LPKC by surfing the MEC portal at http://www.mpm.edu.my.

In case of a disaster, like floods or land slides, candidates who have problems going to their designated examination centres are advised to go to the nearest centre to sit for their examination.

MPM will also open its operations room which can be contacted at 03-61302666, 03-61369663, 03-61302664 or 03-61302646 from 7am to 6pm. — Bernama
