SHAH ALAM: The Independent Advisory Panel to probe the riots sparked by the Bersih 3.0 rally at Dataran Merdeka last April 28 is in the last phase of preparing its report which is expected to be ready before the year ends.

Its chairman, Tun Mohammed Haniff Omar, said several matters, including the involvement of foreign security experts, were being worked out by the panel, including to get views on the method and approach of controlling such a riot in their countries.

He said the report by the panel would have 10 chapters and would provide in detail the chronology of the event, as well as recommendations.

“The panel is satisfied with the report which will give a clearer and more accurate picture of what really happened on that day,” he told a media conference here yesterday.

Mohammed Haniff said the preparation of the report was based on direct and circumstantial evidence. — Bernama
