THE new Local Authorities (Advertisements) By-Laws 2012 will see the reduction of licence fees for advertisement for areas under city councils and municipal councils.

Minister of Local Government and Community Development Datuk Sri Wong Soon Koh yesterday said that the new advertisement by-laws came into force on Oct 1 this year and will be implemented by all 26 local authorities in the state.

“Among the amendments introduced under the new advertisement by-laws is the reduction of licence fees for the erection and display of advertisement over one square metre in size other than business name signboards and advertisements on electric boards or any non-print device, from RM350 per square metre per year to RM100 per square metre per year for the first 20 square metres and RM70 for every additional square metre per year or part thereof for areas under the city councils and municipal councils,” he said in his winding up speech at the State Legislative Assembly sitting.

He added that for areas under the district councils, the licence fee is reduced from RM175 per square metre per year to RM70 per square metre per year for the first 20 square metres and RM50 for every additional square metre per year.
