‘Only best candidates serve in public service’

THE Chief Minister’s Department has introduced a new employment system that selects the best candidates to serve in the state’s public service.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu said this new employment system comprises five stages as opposed to doing only on job interviews.

The five stages were meant to filter academic and curriculum qualifications, written examinations, assessment centre, psychometric examinations and structured interviews.

“We have implemented this new system, which has a more comprehensive assessment, beginning this year.

“The assessment involves evaluating their personality, leadership, communication skills, the ability to analyse information, cooperative, integrity, time management and so on,” said Jabu in his winding up speech yesterday.

He added that with the new employment system, the state’s public service would be able to employ capable, talented and high quality officers to strive towards a world class public service.
