KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has recorded the highest number of affordable homes to be built by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) under its Rumah Mampu Milik (RMM) Programme.

Currently two RMM projects to build 2,040 housing units are underway in the state, said SPNB chairman Datuk Wira Ir. Hj Idris Hj Haron.

He said SPNB had completed five RMM projects comprising a total of 3,098 units in Sabah as at October 30 this year.

These include Vista Seri Kiranau, Kg Kiranau, Penampang (524 residential units), Vista Seri Melalin, Kg Melalin, Mengkabong, Tuaran (504 units), Taman Layar Impian, Kg Laya-Laya, Tuaran (224 units), Apartment Tuaran Impian, Km 24 Jalan Tuaran, Telipok (618 units) and Maju Jaya Apartment, Putatan (128 units).

The two RMM projects currently under construction are Taman Apas Permai, Mile 12, Jalan Apas, Tawau (856 Units) and Apartment Vista Minintod, Jalan Minintod, Penampang (1,176 units).

Nationwide, SPNB has built 14,947 RMM houses under 29 projects in Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak.

“Nine projects involving 6,166 housing units are still under construction,” he said when officiating at the handing over of keys in Angkasa Apartment, Kg Darau, Menggatal yesterday.

The Angkasa Apartment project was a joint venture between SPNB and Kinsa Nuri Sdn Bhd (KNSB) involving around RM202.9 million.

Since the RMM programme was introduced, SPNB has received 54,823 applications nationwide as at November 30 this year.

A total of 34,593 applications were deemed by SPNB to be qualified, and 18,579 units of RMM have been handed over to the successful applicants.

Datuk Wira Hj Idris said the Angkasa Apartment is a good investment as it is close to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), where the students and lecturers are considered a potential market.

All the 640 units in Phase 1A of the Angkasa Apartment, which comprises five blocks — A, B, C, D, and H – have been sold out and 200 purchasers have received their keys to date after the occupancy certificate (OC) was issued on October 21.

The Phase 1B, which features 640 more units in five blocks, was launched last year and all the units have also been sold out.
