Immigration detain 7 foreigners in operation against street traders

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven foreigners were detained by the Immigration Department for trading doing business without licence and valid travel documents in an operation against street traders in Jalan Bukit Bintang tonight.

Assistant director of Kuala Lumpur Immigration (Enforcement) , James Musa Singa said the seven including five women aged between 18 and 40 years were being held at the Immigration Office in Jalan Duta.

They are investigated under Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act for not having valid travel documents under Section 51 (5) (b) of Immigration Act 1959.

James Musa said the foreigners would be detained for 14 days to determine their status before they were sent home.

The integrated operation with the cooperation of several government agencies including Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) followed complaints from the public. — Bernama
