KUALA LUMPUR: The Temerloh branch manager of Risda Plantation Sdn Bhd, Datuk Muhammad Olian Abdullah and Sabah Culture Board member, Dr Lucas Umbul have been sworn in as senators.
The swearing-in ceremony was held before the President of Dewan Negara, Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang here today.
It was the first senator appointment for Dr Lucas, 52, the vice-president of Sabah Murut Association since 2003.
Muhammad Olian, 52, whose term as senate member ended on Dec 8 was sworn in as senator for a second term.
A lifetime member of Kampung Bukit Rok Umno branch in Bera, Pahang, he was the honourary secretary of Muslim Orang Asli Welfare Organisation Malaysia from 2008 to 2010.– BERNAMA
