SIBU: The ‘2nd Sibu Bike Week (SBW) 2012’ made a big impression in trying to turn Sibu into an exciting destination for two-wheel motorsport tourism among big bikers and tourists alike.
The ‘loud’ 3-day event was also staged to strengthen the spirit of goodwill among big bikers from different countries, and it showed, especially on Saturday. Despite a heavy downpour, the spirit of the bikers remained high as they braved the cold and heavy rain to ride to the event venue – Sibu Town Square Phase II.
The bike exhibition, slow ride competition, ‘burn tyre’, car auto exhibition, band competition, paint ball, tattoo painting and demo, scooter competition, and skateboard competition drew a huge crowd since day one on Friday.
About 1,000 bikers from Brunei, Pontianak, Kalimantan of Indonesia, Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, and Sarawak took part.
Abdul Razak Abdul Salam from event organiser Razz Chopper said they were thrilled how it all went.
“For us, it is truly a historical event for it all ended on a high note. This is all because of the solid support given by all the bikers.”
He thanked all the bikers and other participants, especially car owners from Kuching and here, for making the second edition a success.
Razak also gave his thumbs up to Sibu Municipal Council, the police, Rela personnel, fire rescue and services department (Bomba) and other bodies for their assistance.
“Not forgetting the mass media for their wonderful coverage. Their coverage made the event even more meaningful.”
