BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The involvement of government agencies and non-government organisations in the development of youths in the country, especially in together assisting in the success of volunteering activities, constitutes support that has invaluable impact, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The support was lauded by Hj Rosmadee bin Hj Mohd Daud, the Acting Director of Youth and Sports in his speech during the closing ceremony for the Tutong Amazing Race 2012 “Song Dai Perabang” (Let’s Run) that carried the theme “Kenali Negara Kitani” (Know Our Country).

“The continuous commitment and concrete action given by the private sector also help to strengthen the ability of each volunteer among youths and community of the country,” said Hj Rosmadee.

“This is a good sign for us to move towards (becoming) a developed nation and to be better known to the world, not only from the economic point of view, but also from the commitment of the residents on the policy of stability, peace and prosperity.”

Hj Rosmadee added, “We hope that youths will be more courageous in coming forward and actively participating in any volunteer activities whereby if evaluated, volunteer bodies can be a movement itself without any encouragement from any parties.”

Meanwhile in a separate speech, Hj Mohd Rosfazilah bin Hj Yusly, the Head of the Tutong branch of the Youth and Sports Department called on youths to participate in any youth programmes or sports events, as well as to take the opportunity to become volunteers in activities.

“The Tutong Amazing Race is held in conjunction with the national Volunteer Day 2012 and also in heeding the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam which, among other things, highlighted that youths with a big heart will be encouraged to be hardworking, and to be able to face endurance in harsh conditions,” he said. “These are the youths that we and the country dream of. Youths like these will not see difficulties as an obstacle to success but as a means to become strong and competitive.”

After the speech, Hj Rosmadee gave away appreciation certificates to the sponsors and also the winners.
