SIBU: Children should be encouraged to play as it helps to develop their mind and keeps them healthy.
“This is because children learn through playing. By playing, they actually learn how to communicate, behave and express their emotion,” he explained.
Secretary of the Association for Children with Special Needs Sibu, Dr Toh Teck Hock said this when speaking to reporters at a Christmas Gathering jointly organised by the association and the Social Welfare Department through its ‘Program Dalam Pusat Komuniti’ held at the Agape Centre here yesterday.
Dr Toh said that is why they came up with PlayGroup at the association.
“Through PlayGroup, children to learn how to interact, behave and express their emotion.”
“Besides that, children with development problems, who are involved in PlayGroup are not alone, because their siblings will be joining them,” he added.
Dr Toh also expressed his gratitude to the Social Welfare Department for supporting the association through its ‘Program Dalam Pusat Komuniti’.
The association’s president Datuk Kapitan Janet Lau was also present.
