Four more suspects detained in murder of mechanic in Selayang Baru

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police detained four more suspects in the killing of a mechanic in Selayang Baru on Dec 23, making the total arrests at 12, to date.

Selangor deputy police chief Datuk A Thaiveegan said, the suspects, aged between 20 and 30, were arrested in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

He said, two surrendered at the Gombak Police District Headquarters at 1pm yesterday, one was detained in Selayang at 8pm on the same day, and the fourth was nabbed in Jalan Putra, Kuala Lumpur yesterday at 1pm.

The media had reported that Selangor police had detained eight men, aged 17 to 22, in operations in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur on Dec 24-25 over the killing.

Thaiveegan told a media conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters today, the 12 were remanded until early January.

Police were waiting for the decision of the public prosecutor on further action to be taken.

R Kumaran, 31, was stabbed to death after being attacked by a group of youths in front of a shophouse in Selayang Baru on Dec 23, at 3am.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
