KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia can help mediate the Israel-Palestine conflict just like the role it had played in ending 40 years of discord between Bangsamoro and the Philippines government last year.
Minister in he Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said Malaysia could play the role under the auspices of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak could help formulate the framework for the Israel Palestine accord just like the peace deal brokered in southern Philippines.
The success of the southern Philippines peace deal can be replicated to resolve international conflicts, he told reporters after handing over RM150,000 from the Palestine Fund to seven non-governmental organisations involved in humanitarian mission in Palestine, here yesterday.
The fund was raised from public donation through the ‘Demi Palestin’ programme over al-Hijrah television channel on Dec 23 last year. — Bernama
