New world record bid: Longest underwater clean-up

KOTA KINABALU: Astro aims to set a new world record in the longest underwater clean-up and is inviting qualified divers to participate in this attempt at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park here from April 6 to 13, this year.

In 2011, Astro Kasih’s Beautiful Malaysia CSR programme saw 777 individual corals being transplanted at the Ribbon Reef, Tun Sakaran Marine Park in Sabah, breaking the Malaysia Book of Records.

Following the success, Astro Kasih aims to create greater marine conservation awareness in 2013 by setting a new Guinness World Records title for the Longest Underwater Clean-up.

This 168-consecutive-hour, seven-day underwater clean-up will be held at 14 dive sites surrounding Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park.

Astro Kasih invites volunteers who are certified divers to be part of this environmental project.

Volunteers who are selected will receive full-board stay, which includes accommodation and meals.
