KUALA LUMPUR: Global construction consultancy, Driver Group Plc (Driver), is confident of securing more projects in Malaysia with the launch of its rebranded operation, Driver Trett Consultancy.

The company has also established a witness and litigation support services brand, DIALES, under its umbrella. Driver Trett managing director for Asia Pacific, Alastair Farr said the company is positive that there are plenty of opportunities to further grow its business in Malaysia.

He said delays, disruption and claims in construction and engineering projects tend to escalate in uncertain economic condition. Currently, the company is handling the consultancy for 10 projects in Malaysia.

“We are heavily involved in civil engineering, and are particularly keen on oil and gas. We are already a major player in providing support to the oil and gas industry. It is one of the main sectors that we are looking to grow, particularly in liquefied natural gas,” Farr told Bernama.

The company provides expert advice and supports companies in making claims or defend against claims for time and money, when projects face delays and disruptions. Following the acquisition of Trett Consulting (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd by the Driver Group in 2012, the company is also expanding its strategic project management and project services offerings.

Among past projects undertaken by Driver Trett Malaysia are the SMART tunnel, Bakun Dam, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Selayang Hospital. Farr said the company plans to expand its operations in the Asia Pacific.

“We are looking at new locations, new sectors and new countries to operate in, especially those countries undergoing growth,” he added.

In the Asia Pacific, Driver Trett has offices in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia, with a global presence across Africa, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. — Bernama
