KUCHING: Sarawak hitman Bobby Gonzales has urged fans to give him their full support as he goes on a mission to help the Crocs win promotion to the Malaysia Super League (MSL).

“Give me your support. I can be your hero,” – these were comments he made in an exclusive interview with The Borneo Post recently.

Averaging 1 goal per match in four matches so far, he is clearly showing signs that he is seeking this season’s top scorer award. He understands that local fans are still looking for a prolific hitmen in the mould of Sarawak’s past legends like foreign import John Hunter and Alistair Edwards or locals Shamsurin Abdul Rahman and Bobby Pian.

“I hope to be like them someday as I love it here in Sarawak. All I ask for now is the total support from the fans,” said Bobby.

Initially signed by the Crocs on loan to help the team out with the 2012 Malaysia Cup campaign, the Sabahan is on his second stint with the Crocs. He left Sarawak before the start of the 2012 season to play for his home-based side, Sabah.

After an impressive display for the team at the 2012 Malaysia Cup competition, it did not take long for Bobby to be signed on a permanent deal.

“The target for me this season is of course to be the top scorer for Sarawak and hopefully in the league too,” he added on his personal targets.

Commenting on his new strike partner Ivan Babic, Bobby disclosed that they are constantly deepening their good understanding with each other. He has no problems playing alongside the Croatian import.

Sarawak will take on Sime Darby FC today at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium. The match starts 4.45pm.
