KUCHING: Students are advised to either save the RM100 cash aid given to them by the government or use it to buy books, stationery and other essential items needed for their studies.
Parents, on their part, should ensure that their children have the habit of saving, said SUPP Youth secretary general Wilfred Yap.
He gave this advice after officiating at an event to give away the RM100 cash aid to students of SRB Chung Hua Batu 4 ½ here yesterday.
“Children must know the value of money, which is earned and not given. Parents need to teach their children the good habit of saving money and spending their money wisely.
“Youngsters these days are more prone to getting into financial quagmire due to unnecessary and excessive spending,” he added.
Yap is a SUPP nominee to defend Stampin for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election.
School principal Chin Moi Chin said 1,139 qualified students from SRB Chung Hua Batu 4 ½ received the RM100 cash aid yesterday.
Deputy chairman of SRB Chung Hua Batu 4 ½ Thum Lee Chiu and its secretary Kon Jiew Nyan were present at the ceremony.
