KUCHING: Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) needs the involvement of more community leaders from the Iban community.

Kuching branch chairman Dato Anthony Nait said the good synergy between the community leaders and Ibans of other professions may drive the community forward and achieve great things.

“We should emulate the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) which has always involved the community leaders in its activities. Today, the DBNA (despite being the minority) has a very grand hall and a headquarters,” he said during the Sadia Kuching dinner at a hotel here on Saturday night.

He also mentioned that Sadia as a non-governmental organisation (NGO) would remain apolitical.

It was announced that Sadia Kuching has formed five bureaus that, among others, will focus on matters such as education, economic development and preservation of tradition and arts.

Also present were Ninth Infantry Brigade commander Brigadier-General Datuk Stephen Mundaw and Sadia secretary general Nicholas Mujah.
