TUTONG: The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation (YSHHB) through the ‘Projek Amal Memeduli Warga Emas dan Keluarga Yang Memerlukan Bantuan’ (PAWEK) or ‘Caring for the Elderly and Families in Need Charity Project held community works at the residence of Awg Muhammad Sayong bin Abdullah Amod yesterday in Kg Batang Tutong, Borneo Bulletin reported.
A total of $8,120 was fully sponsored by YSHHB to repair the structure of the old citizen’s house, which involved, among others, replacing its entire roof, as well as cleaning the home’s area and painting its wooden walls.
Present yesterday was the guest of honour, one of the YSHHB Board members and Co-Chairman of PAWEK, Awg Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yusof.
Also in attendance were the YSHHB Managing Director Awg Hj Brahim bin Hj Ismail, the Penghulu of Mukim Kiudang, the Village Head of Kg Batang Mitus, Awg Haji Puasa bin Haji Jumat, the Assistant Managing Director of YSHHB, the Assistant Chairman of PAWEK, YSHHB volunteers and the residents of Kg Batang Mitus.
The guest of honour also presented contributions in the form of basic food and a rubber mat for Awg Muhammad Sayong.
The 61-year-old man receives a $250 pension and financial aid for the visually impaired of $250 per month from the Community Development Department (JAPEM), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
