PENAMPANG: A foreign tourist and his son suffered head injuries when they were attacked by a man at an entertainment outlet in Donggongon on Thursday night.

Josephine Lama Larua Levatora, 42, a Papua New Guinea citizen, and his 22-year-old son both suffered head wounds when the assailant allegedly attacked them with beer bottles in the 11pm incident.

Levatora received 30 stitches behind his ear while his son received three stitches on his forehead.

It was said that the victims were having a drink in the entertainment outlet when an argument broke out between Levatora and the suspect.

The suspect, in his 40s, then attacked Levatora and hit the latter’s head with a beer bottle.

The victim’s son then went to his father’s aid and tried to stop the fight, but was also attacked by the suspect with a beer bottle.

Both victims were then taken to hospital by other patrons and lodged a police report at the Penampang police headquarters the same day.

District police chief DSP Ratan Kumar Singh said police were still investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.

Ratan said no arrest had been made and urged eyewitnesses to come forward to assist police in this investigation.
