Hit the ground more aggressively — Yong

KUCHING: SUPP Stampin MP Datuk Yong Khoon Seng has advised SUPP candidates to go to the ground more aggressively in preparation for the impending 13th general election.

However, he said he was optimistic that all candidates picked by the party would carry out their responsibilities well.

Those picked include Wilfred Yap, who is tipped to contest in Stampin as Yong, who is also Deputy Minister of Works, had long decided to call it a day once Parliament is dissolved.

“That candidate also follows me to events. I am confident that he also goes to the ground often without notifying the media,” he told reporters after officiating at a prize-giving ceremony at SMK Batu Kawa on Saturday.

Yong said he would continue to contribute to society via charity organisations after retiring from active politics.

“Retirement will not stop me from serving while I still can.”
