SHAH ALAM: The Sessions Court here yesterday fixed March 6 for re-mention of the case involving Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) strategy director Mohd Rafizi Ramli and a bank clerk who have been charged under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act (Bafia) 1989.

Judge G Ramesh set the date after allowing the application by Mohd Rafizi’s counsel Evic Paulsen for a new mention date pending disposal of the accused’s appeal against the High Court’s decision to reject his application to strike out the Bafia charge against him.

Last Nov 23, Justice Datuk Ghazali Cha rejected Mohd Rafizi’s application to strike out the charge after deciding that it was made prematurely.

Mohd Rafizi, 36, filed the application on Sept 10, 2012, contending that the charge was politically motivated.

He had pleaded not guilty to unauthorised disclosure of the Public Bank Bhd account balance statements of National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), National Meat & Livestock Sdn Bhd, Agroscience Industries Sdn Bhd and NFC chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail, to Yusof Abdul Alim and Erle Martin Carvalho.

He allegedly committed the offence on March 7, 2012.

Former Public Bank clerk Johari Mohamad, 42, had also claimed trial to abetting Mohd Rafizi on the same date and place. — Bernama
