Night club owner shot by assailants reported to be in critical condition

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A night club owner was reported to be in serious condition after being shot by two men on a motorcycle at Jalan Bukit Tengah, here on Tuesday night.

Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said, during the 10.30pm incident, Tan Sheng Suo, 43, was believed to have been shot three times when his car stopped at a traffic light.

“The victim and his friend were on their home from the night club in Perai when he was shot not far from his house.

“As soon as the Mercedez Benz, driven by the victim, stopped at the traffic light two men on a motorcycle approached the vehicle, and fired several shots,” he told reporters, here yesterday.

He said, the unknown assailants immediately sped off after the shooting.

“Three of the shots hit the victim’s head, face and body causing serious injuries.

“The victim’s friend, who was also in the vehicle, was not injured,” he said. — Bernama
