Parents arrested to assist police investigation into son’s death

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have arrested the parents of a three-year-old boy who was found dead in Semenyih, Kajang, last Thursday.

Selangor CID chief SAC Mohd Adnan Abdullah said they were detained at their home in Semenyih Indah, Kajang, at 11.45pm Monday night to facilitate investigations under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001.

The child’s father, a security personnel, aged 26, and the mother, a housewife, aged 25, will be remanded until Friday, he told a news conference here yesterday.

Newspapers had previously reported that the boy was a victim of abuse, based on a post-mortem report carried out by the Serdang Hospital.

His death was caused by a blunt object struck to the head and bruises on the chest, hand and signs of caning on the legs. — Bernama
