KOTA BAHARU: The Wildlife and National Park Department has advised the public to inform the department on sightings of wild animals and not act on their own.

Its Kelantan director, Rahmat Topani, said this was to avoid any untoward incident.

He said this in response to a plantation worker being attacked by a leopard while at work at the Felda Perasu oil palm plantation in Gua Musang three days ago.

The worker, Alip Abil, 33, received 50 stitches for injuries on the chest, buttock, arms and head as a result of the attack.

Following the incident, Rahmat said the department had sent a team to track down the animal. — Bernama
