Title not to be traded for personal gain – SAPP

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) deputy organising secretary Stephan Gaimin said PKR Ranau’s act in bestowing the title of Huguan Siou to opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim showed that some people are desperate to become an election candidate.

Saying this in a press statement yesterday, he said the title of Huguan Siou is a non-political tool and not to be traded for personal gain such as to lobby as an election candidate in the forthcoming general election.

“We have seen our native lands been seized, and now the Huguan Siou title is given to a person from the Peninsular,” Gaimin said.

“I am calling Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing to explain on this matter and why he allowed such an incident from happening in front of his eyes,” Gaimin added.

Two days ago, Bumburing in his statement claimed that the issue concerning Anwar being bestowed the Huguan Siou title never happened.

He said the issue of the sash with the inscription ‘Huguan Siou Malaysia’ that was installed on Anwar during his recent visit to Paginatan, Ranau, has been blown out of proportion.
