KUCHING: Proper signage and markings must be put up near the Mile 17 traffic light junction for the safety of road users.
PKR’s probable pick for Mambong in the impending general election, Willie Mongin, opined that the junction was a death trap for motorists, especially at night.
“Many accidents have occurred in this spot and despite being highlighted to relevant authorities like Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and Public Works Department (JKR), nothing has been done yet,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
“There must be signage to alert road users from at least 200 metres away. Accidents have occurred when unwary motorists ram onto the road divider that could not be seen clearly.”
