Veteran actor’s last wish not fulfilled

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actor Kuswadinata’s last wish to have a vacation with his family in Pulau Kapas, Terengganu, was let unfulfilled as he breathed his last at Ampang Hospital yesteday.

According to his wife, Kamariah Mohd Said, 57, Kuswadinata, or his real name Kuswadi Bujang, had made the wish since last year.

“He kept saying that he wanted to go there when he recovered from his illness, but his wish is not fulfilled,” she said
when met at her house here yesterday.

Kuswadinata, who suffered from colon cancer and kidney problems, was pronounced dead at 5.07pm at the age of 74.

“What saddens me is the fact that just a few days ago, he told me that he was going to miss me and I didn’t see it as a sign,”
said Kamariah who has four children with Kuswadinata.

Among local artistes who paid their last respects to Kuswadinata were Rosyam Nor, Aznah Hamid and Aziz Singah.

Also present was Ampang Umno chief Datuk Ismail Kijo.

The Singapore-born actor began his acting career in 1957 with Cathay Keris film production company.

Among his films are Ibu Mertuaku, Antara Dua Darjat, Lang Buana and Gerak Khas 3. — Bernama
