MIDNIGHT FIRE: Firemen trying to locate the source of the fire through the thick smoke after gaining entry into the building.
KUCHING: A popular shoe outlet at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce was damaged when a fire broke out around midnight yesterday.
Firemen were dispatched to the scene around 12.30am following distress calls by passing motorists who spotted smoke billowing from inside the building.
Bomba personnel from the Batu Lintang and Padungan stations had to first cut their way past the locked shutters to gain entry into the premises before locating the source of the fire at the rear.
The situation was brought under control within minutes and the firemen packed up their gear two hours later.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
