KUANTAN: The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang yesterday advised that mosques not be turned into political platforms by any political party in this country.

Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said this was necessary to protect the sanctity of mosques and he did not wish to see mosques as the source of disunity among the ummah (Muslim community), especially within the respective mosque committees.

“The best thing is for us (Muslims) to unite although we have different political ideologies, views and thinking.

“I hope the mosque would be a place where we can unite Muslims,” he said here, yesterday. — Bernama
