BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Village Head of Kampong Puni, Temburong, yesterday pleaded guilty before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court to two charges of misappropriating a portion of the allowances meant for Kampong Puni residents and will he sentenced on March 16, 2013, Borneo Bulletin reported.
Pg Alias bin PPCLD Hj Damit was voted as village head in 2008 and was suspended on December 14, 2011.
The defendant took a total of $3,150 from 12 residents for his personal use thereby depriving the entitled persons of their old age pension and welfare assistance allowances.
The defendant pocketed from 10 persons in April 2011, one person in June 2011 and from another person for two months in 2009.
Senior Magistrate Pengiran Masni Pengiran Haji Bahar released the defendant on $5,000 bail or one local surety.
DPP Yvonne Lim prosecuted the case.
