KUALA LUMPUR: The police have assured the public of a smooth polling process at the 13th General Election (GE).
Internal Security and Public Order deputy director Datuk Muhammad Fuad Abu Zarim said policemen’s leave had been frozen since last month, with the exception of emergency cases.
He said a sufficient number of policemen would be stationed during the GE, especially in areas regarded as ‘hot spots’, adding that about 112,000 policemen would monitor all divisions between the dissolution of Parliament and the close of the polls.
“We assure the public that the police will be everywhere to ensure safety,” he said in an interview with Bernama on the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) preparation for the GE here. — Bernama
