GEORGE TOWN: Bukit Bendera Umno yesterday lodged a police report calling for stern action to be taken against Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Tian Chua for allegedly linking Umno to intrusion incidents by militants from southern Philippines in the east coast of Sabah.

Its head Abdul Jalil Ariffin said the division would not compromise with Tian Chua because the matter involved national security and the country’s sovereignty.

“Bukit Bendera Umno also wants Tian Chua to make a public apology to all Malaysians and in particular the families of the policemen who were killed in confronting the armed intruders in Lahad Datu,” he told reporters after leading 150 members of the division in lodging the report at the Kampung Bahru police station in Air Itam here.

In Petaling Jaya, Tian Chua said he would not be making any apology and was prepared to be sued over the matter.

“I will explain my statement in court and leave it to the court to clear my name.

“I never said anything hurtful to any party,” he told reporters at PKR’s headquarters here.

Security forces undertaking an offensive against the intruders killed 32 militants in clashes yesterday at ground zero in Tanjung Batu near here, raising to 52 the number of militants killed since last Friday.
