LAHAD DATU: Sulu gunmen are believed to be moving in small groups to avoid detection by Malaysian security forces.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said the foreign terrorists have likely spread out and hiding in secondary jungle at Felda Sahabat, making it dangerous for security forces to move in.

“For instance during the ‘mopping up’ and search operations, our forensics unit was attack by the enemies.

“The bodies (of the intruders) are still there, we cannot retrieve them as yet for fear of another attack,” he said.

Ismail said both the police and armed forces have tightened the cordon area, making it impossible for the intruders to slip out.

Meanwhile, Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said the enemies “are playing in two locations”.

“We are confident that the enemies are trapped in Kampung Tanduo and Kampung Tanjung Batu.

“We believe they will try to slip into Kampung Tanduo, but we have blocked all routes to the area,” he said.
